Healing for Complex & Chronic Wounds
When a wound won't heal on its own, you need a specialist. We utilize advanced surgical and non-surgical therapies to prevent infection and save limbs.
Breaking the Cycle of Non-Healing
A "chronic wound" is one that hasn't started to heal within 4 weeks or finished healing in 8 weeks. This often happens because the body's natural healing process is stalled by infection, poor blood flow (circulation), or pressure.
At California Surgical Specialists, we don't just dress the wound; we treat the whole patient. By addressing the root cause—whether it's uncontrolled diabetes, venous insufficiency, or arterial blockages—we jumpstart the body's ability to repair itself.

Conditions We Treat
Diabetic Foot Ulcers
Wounds on the feet of diabetic patients are the leading cause of amputation. We treat these aggressively to save the foot and leg.
Venous & Arterial Leg Ulcers
Wounds caused by poor blood circulation. We work to restore flow and manage swelling (edema).
Pressure Ulcers (Bedsores)
Injuries to skin and underlying tissue resulting from prolonged pressure on the skin.
Non-Healing Surgical Wounds
Incisions from previous surgeries (c-sections, abdominal surgery) that have opened (dehiscence) or become infected.
Modern Science for Faster Healing
Surgical Debridement
The removal of dead (necrotic) or infected tissue. This is the single most important step to turn a chronic wound into a fresh, healing one.
Negative Pressure Wound Therapy (VAC)
We apply a specialized vacuum dressing that draws out fluid, reduces swelling, and pulls the wound edges together to speed up closure.
Biologic Skin Substitutes
For stubborn wounds, we apply bio-engineered tissue products that provide a scaffold for your own skin cells to grow across the defect.
Total Contact Casting
A specialized cast to take weight off a diabetic foot ulcer, allowing it to heal while you walk.
Saving Limbs, Changing Lives
Our primary goal is Limb Preservation. An unhealed wound on the foot or leg puts you at high risk for amputation. Dr. Abidali and Dr. Qureshi work closely with vascular specialists and podiatrists to ensure blood flow is restored and infection is controlled before it spreads to the bone (osteomyelitis).
A Deeper Level of Care
While wound clinics are helpful, seeing a General Surgeon offers distinct advantages. If a wound requires aggressive cleaning in the operating room, a skin graft to close a large defect, or amputation of a toe to save the foot, Dr. Abidali and Dr. Qureshi have the surgical skills to perform these necessary interventions immediately.
